debbi moore and print and metal magic

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x53bKA9Gj0

Make your own sentiments using My Craft Studio - just practice its fun

First attempt at my craft studio and using their backgrounds, shapes, etc, to make own sentiments then
I tried using the effects tab and changing the hue, contrast, etc, to get different colours
see below

Thanks to my craft studio having fun with crafting and making own sentiments is easy, you can do them in polkadoodles and
put in your own messages in their templates

To me this is what  makes digital crafting fun the myriads of things that you can do with the myriad of graphics my craft studio, etc,
offer. I must admit My Craft Studio, Debbi Moore are my favourites due to their generous
angel policies.  Not that I sell any, but it's there in case one changes their
mind.

I did the latter one purplish so that it may go with a bit vintage lace, steampunk type of think, if distressed a bit more with purply or grey inks or whatever.

Just it was fun to have a go.  Just take in a background, punch a rectangle or circle square out of it, and then do it again and overlay, and then add text - could try more fonts and more shapes, etc.  Some eg, More than Words, Mycraft studio give you templates like the tag shapes above to fill in yourself.  I had a go, not perfect, but cheaper, and fun to make.  With practice I am sure I could be more creative.  I just placedit here to encourage
you to have a go yourself.

perfect instructions from splitcoaststampers.com for resist embossing

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/embossing_resist/

perfect instructions, glad to see that they first wipe the card over with an embossing buddy, or sometimes people use a cotton bag with talc in, and if you wipe it across the card it helps to prevent stray embossing powder from sticking and ruining the end product
 the picture from their website

plus they do have a video tutorial

This is a great technique, one where you can alter the inks that you may brush over, or the gellato that you may brushover the embossed print, also you could emboss black like silhouette and colour background different colours.

You can use trees, poetry, etc   it is all in your imagination and creativity

having in some good colours will be handy

it is great for snowflakes, white emboss and blue sky

its like magic

Rule of Thirds and Cardmaking and photographers

http://www.lifepics.com/Photography-Tips/cropping-tips.htm

take a look at this, and scroll down to the butterfly picture and I think this can show you the difference that positioning your image on the page, according to this rule of thirds

often on digital graphics, eg, Craft Artist 2, you can click on the grid at the bottom and it will place it on your project and then when you have positioned items you just click on the grid at the bottom again and it goes off

simple sentiments for cards

http://www.craftworkcards.co.uk/products/2524/birthday-sentiments-black.html

sentiments for cardmaking

if you type sentiments for cardmaking into the google search bar, and click images ont he toolbar above you will see lots of ideas and links to websites with ideas

Start your cardmaking with a sentiment

Mmmm this was an interesting thought to me, as I have always started by choosing a topper and matching in the backgrounds and mats and layers.  Adding the sentiment at the end with embellishments.

So I thought I would try this method that I read of in a cardmaking magazine.

So my new grandson is due to be born and he is five days late already, but I began to think of what should I write in the sentiment

congratulations on your new baby
congratulations on  your new baby luke
welcome to baby luke
welcome to my new grandson

and i finally decided on welcome to our new baby grandson, Luke, as this incorporated to me that it was a grandson a position within the family, his name Luke, but I like the word OUR to imply some pride or some ownership as grandparents etc.

So then having decided on the sentiment I thought about a sketch for the card. I decided on 6 x  6 in square my favourite shape and size, not too big, not too small and pleasing to the eye.  Then my first mat of navy blue mirriboard of 5.5 in sq.
Then my next matt is of 5.0 in square in white, with three colour blocks of 1.66 x 4.98 horizontally pieced together and glued onto the white card.

One of tiny patter feet, one of love hearts, one of baby bottles, with each join being sealed by a glue pen and navy glitter.

The topper then 4.5 x 4.5 matted thinly on pale blue card, comprising of a printed out image and printed out message.

I thought and thought, and wondered what image, and what could I do to be different and yet pass on a message.

So I thought from the tiny acorn the mighty oak doth grow, and printed off this, I shaded below the acorn to ground the image, and faux stitched in navy around the topper to frame image.

I then cut out some images of oak leaves and attached to left corner lower of card.  Eventually I matted the printed off sentiment on navy mirriboard and placed at top left corner of card overlapping mats and layers.

Inside I wrote a small verse saying along the lines, with love and kindness your heart will grow brave and strong

I was pleased with this card as it conveyed a differnet message,  not its a girl or its a boy - that sentiment does have its place - but as grandma i hope to love him and have an input to his life to help him grow to a fine young man

the colour blocks added the small baby images and the lovehearts

i like the baby cards with clothes hanging on pegs, etc, and bunting, and shaped bottle cards, but with the feelings that I was concentrating on this came to mind, rightly or wrongly it reflected his grandmas wishes and sentiments

So personally it was a novel way to start from, but it worked for me, chose a sentiment, thought about what i wanted to convey, sketched a card, chose colours and images all the time thinking about eg pitter patter of tiny baby feet, the eternal bottle, and eternal love hearts, then made it mine with the acorn and the message, not traditional but personal

have a go, what is your message or sentiment, feel it in your heart, write down the words you feel for that special person, and see where it leads you

i often use a card sketch of my own or borrowed, but u dont need to

i love trying easel cards, waterfall cards, gatefold cards, cross over cards, etc, there is so much to chose from

if my grandson was about five I perhaps would do a waterfall cards of his different faces or his toys, as kinetic cards would appeal to this age group, even a good popup card would be good

however, try it  I shall put the photos up later

We even have a Pinterest board that houses an easily accessible array of these go-to downloads. And they are free as FREE can be! My Craft Studio Angel Policy - very generous!

http://www.createandcraft.tv/My_Craft_Studio_Fairyland_CD_ROM-292011.aspx

just a snippet

With all the images being original artwork for My Craft Studio, it allows the crafter to sell their projects under the Angel Policy. Meaning there no restrictions, unlike other licensed artwork.

always check first but I believe this angel policy applies to most My Craft Studio cdroms, which is great if you want to sell at fairs, or raise charity funds, or try a small business.  Debbi Moore is the other company with a generous Angel Policy, but you will need to check her website for this, again this is similar to my craft studio as long as it is handcrafted but check for yourself first.

So I do tend to favour their cd roms, as most of the others allow 200 a year, although there are others that are generous SOME of Joanna Sheens and there are others but I shall blog later about those.

JUST WHAT I HAVE WANTED - FOR FREE - MY CRAFT STUDIO - STANDARD, PROFESSIONAL AND ELITE TUTORIALS BRILL

http://www.mycraftstudio.com/tutorials

everything you ever wanted to know about my craft studio and the latest ELITE which is brill

the best feature for me in elite - among dozen others, of course, - is the saving as a JPEG as opposed to a .mcsx file, which means images you have created can be saved as both mcs and jpeg and then can be used in other ways too which I find so great

it is saved in a good resolution and as a picture it is so useful

if you go to the link and click on the blue tutorial you want then if you press the square sign on the like a television screen it will make the picture bigger so you can see better

strectch and crop is good

but lassoo tool is great

FOR BEGINNERS ON COMPUTERS - if you want to see how to load your my craft studio program there is a tutorial for this too and how to access and store the my craft studio artwork on your machine

the best thing is that most of my craft studio you can sell your handcrafted cards - not sheets directly or images directly of the software but the things you have composed/edited, etc, which is really generous, debbi moore is also very generous and allows you to sell your HANDCRAFTED cards for profit again not sheets per se or toppers, etc, per se off disc

It is just good to know that if you want to sell your HANDCRAFTED cards made from MCS or Debbi Moore without quibble BUT ALWAYS CHECK THEIR COPYRIGHT ON THEIR WEBSITE FIRST but I have heard it a lot on Create and Craft shopping channel

SO COME ON   ANYONE WHO HAS STRUGGLED WITH DIGITAL CRAFTING HERE ARE THE TUTORIALS
YOU NEED

THE hardest thing I guess will be getting it onto your computer, installing and accessing the artwork - but see the tutorials and have a go!!!

✿ Season's Tweetings
✿ Winter Florals
✿ Festive Motifs
✿ Stamp & Send

when you link to the above http address you will see the following titles of papers to download all you do is double click on one and then go to file and do save as, and I use vista, and as it is a jpeg, picture, already it is already saved in Pictures for you, you can edit the name before you save it if you wish.

Then you can just print it off when you want it.

The seasons tweetings is beautiful and the robin and the vintage paper look is great. thats my fave.

Have a go, even ifyou use seasons tweetings and just print it off twice, and when you put the bottom half onto a card, or matt and layer it, you can then use the other copy and just cut out the robin and decoupage it, add a sentiment and youve cracked it.  Keeping the other vintage paper say to punch for flowers etc.

christmas chat

Hi

Christmas is getting nearer and making cards, wordbooks, booklets for gifts, notelets, stationery boxes, etc for friends and family, getting a bit weary so turn to good old craft magazines for a break and refuelling with a cup of coffee, no not Baileys coffee yet!!

My favourite card style is the easel card so easy to do and different, although i find a lot of people i know dont same to favour the design preferring traditional shaped cards

gatefold i like but find difficult to matt and layer although debbie moores cds can make th is a lot easier

i just love teabag folding may put up some photos on facebook to share

i find it takes a bit of concentration and as such seems to be relaxing

i love to share the simple folds with friends when they come and they lvoe it as do kids who visit

i show them how to make a teabag tile using software on the net

Tomorrow I am going to make my place card names and menu on Craft Artist2 and will share on facebook and give link

I hope all you crafters are busy making your own greeting cards and trying something new as you go

this is a good example of brayering and masking

I have seen this done at a craft exhibition at the royal armouries leeds and it was fascinating to watch and to see how soon it takes effect

the lady used black quotes, black outline images, and they were striking

there is a knack to brayering, and it is all in the lifting!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qB9e4-aPAs

I have this cd and it is really super for Christmas.  The self standing teddy bear, as shown, is really beautiful - I printed it off onto photographic paper and it was really shiny and then of course glittered it etc.

The backing papers are great, and everything comes together to make a card, image, insert, envelope, etc, all there.

Joanna does do similar galleries for a lot of her cds, and they are really inspirational.

DIGITAL CRAFTING - have a go with free download from Serif Craft Artist Compact, see link below

Digital crafting is the up and coming trend in the craft world.  I feel it is, in my opinion, appealling to people who say are not craft minded, ie, dont usually knit or sew or crafting comes easy to, it as it is a massive aid to colour paletting, so you do not have to know what colours go with what, although the colour wheel rules do help; also if you are stuck in one way of making cards, eg, decoupaging, or embossing, etc, then digital crafting can widen your scope more easily.  For me crafting never came easy, for my SISTER she's great, beautiful christening gowns, beautiful popping up squares for pram blankets, knitting, sewing, anything and a natural born cardmaker - it just seems to be a natural God-given talent, so digital crafting has for me done away with a lot of the nitty gritty measuring and getting it right, choosing your own colours, traditional matting and layering cut at the guillotine, etc, and everything can be measured for you so you just cut round the edges, colours are colour matched for you, which is an area I struggled with - can you imagine.

It has endless variations on a theme, one background image can be changed to myriad of couples, opacities, split in half, swirled, blurred, etc etc   You can using My Craft Studio Elite, for example, chose what parts of an image you wish to decoupage and cut it out and print out.

I love digital punching, which means you can cut pre-designed shapes out of materials, backgrouns, etc.  So, if you want a black cat or a ginger cat, providing a cat is in your digital shapes you can have one.  My favourite, digital punching is the leaves and the flowers, and so if you vary your backgrounds, etc, your flowers and leaves can be many coloured.

I wish I could encourage more people to have a go, and others to work on extending their knowledge.  My mum is 77 and she has conquered the art of digital crafting and loves to make sentiments for her own cards, and inserts too.

Craft Artist 2 is a fantastic digital crafting, and more, tool.   It usually comes with a few digikits, which means packs of say 10 background papers,   20 embellishments, some frames, some letters, some materials etc which you drag and drop. The letters are great and you just type in your words and press insert and hey ho the words are in a fancy font on your card or scrapbook page etc.

There are scissors, to cut up material.  You can make embellishments as big or as little as you wish for your page, and they keep great resolution.

You can go to Daisy Trail and join for free and download numerous free digikits for you to enjoy.

There are templates you can use to make it easier for you, or start from a blank and the blanks are in all sorts of sizes, eg A4, A5, A4 folded portrait, A4 folded landscape, A7, endless arrangements. Also, there are templates for gift bags, cupcake holders, place names, crackers, etc

It is produced by Serif so have a peep, and see if you can be tempted.

You can I believe download a version of craft artist for free to use with the digikits.http://www.daisytrail.com/free_stuff.html

good cardmaking websites to visit

Hello   this is just a couple of sisters who enjoy arts and crafts and just wish to share ours and others works;

http://www.cardmakingandpapercraft.com/  here is a good website and a good magazine we both enjoy

just peep and I promise you'll be there for hours!!!!

Basic Card Folds

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BflKeV_X9Zo

Christina Griffiths one of my favourite crafters who shares almost everything with us.

She has over a hundred videos to chose from on you tube and she has a blog.

Take a look, all sorts from tying a bow, to making flowers, etc.

my craft studio at a glance with Stephanie Weightman

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw7ekkwsXgY

This is a fantastic overview from whom I believe to be Stephanie Weightman, and MCS is Stephanie and Nancy Watts baby I believe.

Take a quick look and see how:

A good method of matting and layering using my craft studio

http://joannasheenchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/matting-layering-tutorial-by-lexie.html?showComment=1384024745267

My Craft Studio Elite is the one above My Craft Studio Professional and it does have some improvements that are very valuable and I would recommend anyone updating.

I love My Craft Studio Elite and I love to save some of my creations as JPEGs as given in the saving drop down arrow, so this means you can now use your image in a lot more other programmes too.

There are more digital punches as well, and the lassoo tool is fantastic.

The lassoo tool means you can make a decoupage creation from an image, choosing your own parts to decoupage.

We all know tiling is great and cropping.

I may as time move on put some tutorials on the internet on how you use My Craft Studio Elite.

The My Craft Studio CD Roms are great too, and there Click and Go or In Your Element ranges are easy you just click and it is all there for you to print off, you can of course edit etc if you wish.

There are lots of tutorials on you tube and Stephanie Weightman and Nancy Watts are the ones to watch.

But this lady gave a good tutorial and I am sharing for all the crafters out there that are hesitant, as am I, about using matting and layering, as getting the four sides straight can be a problem, but with this lady's method and my craft studio graphics programme, then the outlines are there for you to cut round, and of course there are ruler guides in cm and inches for you to measure your matts.  This lady went one further and used the punch tool to punch her image topper to the correct size.  And of course, it is all visual on the screen as a card until you separate it out.

I just love digital crafting, and my sister loves both handcrafting and digital crafting.

Crafting is keeping us close!!   cikuc   and I am sure many of you crafters out there are kept close through crafting too, regular shopping trips, regular info calls, regular craft clubs, and regular watching of create and craft, maybe lol  I am an avid viewer , just love that programme!  and online shop
